Cassidy!!!
So, I wish it was a great tale about how Cassidy was climbing a tree, skateboarding or reeling in a shark...but really, she's 3...it was a chair...and gravity. She was climbing up an inverted chair that was seat to seat with a right side up chair. She got to a point where the center of gravity was off and she pitched backward, onto our newly tiled floor with the chair on top of her (had we recarpeted, we probably wouldn't have had a story to tell). This all happened around 11 this morning. I thought it might be broken, but decided to wait a little in case it was just bruised. Around 1, I gave her some Motrin and took another look at her arm. She was still cradling it and was uncomfortable, there was a little swelling, she couldn't straighten it and she wasn't putting any weight on it. With all that, I decided to run her up to "After Hours Pediatrics" 20 minutes away. They had her in and out in just about an hour!!!! I was super impressed! What a great place! The doctor had the same impression I did...she wasn't super tender, no obvious swelling, but they did a couple x-rays and sure enough on both of the lower bones of her arm, right near her elbow are little fractures. Not all the way through, just enough to be broken. So, they put a splint on and a "swing" and told us to check in with a pediatric orthopedist who would likely put a cast on it. We'll post pictures if that happens.
Cassidy was brave at the doctor, in fact, she was brave all day! We are proud of what a great job she did telling us where she was hurt.
So that's the excitement in the BK household for this weekend! At least it waited for Sunday!!!!
The irony in all this: Last week, while watching Cassidy fall off the slide we have set up in the living room, mostly for Lily the climbing monkey, I made some comment about it wasn't going to be Lily who breaks her arm first...it'll be Cassidy. Hmmm, I should keep my mouth shut!!!
The good in all this: she is going to have to give up sucking her finger! Heck of a way to break a habit though!
